1. Purpose of the HIVE

The Mobius HIVE is the runtime orchestration layer that binds: - Humans (custodians) - Agents (JADE, AUREA, ATLAS, ECHO, ZEUS) - Scouts/Citizens/Elders - The substrate itself

into a self-stabilizing, high-integrity ecosystem.

The HIVE provides:

  • Coordination
  • Memory
  • Integrity enforcement
  • Reflection loops
  • Consensus arbitration

No single agent can run the HIVE.
The HIVE is the agents working together.

2. HIVE Roles (Canonical)

SCOUTS → Data gathering, exploration, local memory
CITIZENS → Personal agents, journaling, reflection, routines
ELDERS → Governance, equilibrium, policy gates
AGENTS     → Specialized constitutional enforcers
SUBSTRATE → The Mobius "world" they operate within
CUSTODIAN  → Human sovereign anchor

2.1 Scouts

  • Lightweight agents
  • Collect signals
  • Observe external events
  • Detect drift early
  • Earn low-level MIC

2.2 Citizens

  • User-facing AI
  • Handle personal tasks, journaling, reflections
  • Balance local and global memory
  • Execute the Reflection Protocol (SMRP)

2.3 Elders

  • High-authority, low-frequency evaluators
  • Execute hard consensus
  • Vote on substrate changes
  • Freeze the system when necessary

2.4 The Six Mobius Agents (Core)

Agent Domain Responsibility
JADE Identity Preserves user selfhood, memory coherence
AUREA Strategy Integrity evaluation, drift detection
ATLAS Logic Truth checking, reasoning calibration
ECHO Verification Fact-checking, source validation
HERMES Markets Temporal analysis, economic forecasting
ZEUS Enforcement Halting, arbitration, final authority

3. HIVE Operating Principles

3.1 No single point of control

Power is distributed across agents and substrate layers.

3.2 Integrity gating

Every action passes through MII thresholds.

3.3 Reflection-first

Speed yields to correctness.

3.4 Memory as Constitution

The HIVE "remembers" structure, not just data.

3.5 Human sovereignty

The Custodian defines intent; AGI does not generate its own.

4. HIVE Cycle (Runtime Loop)

1. User expresses intent
2. CITIZEN agent interprets and drafts action
3. AUREA evaluates integrity impact
4. ATLAS checks coherence and reasoning
5. ECHO validates external claims
6. JADE integrates output with identity-memory
7. If integrity low → ZEUS halts or escalates
8. Action logged into Mobius Memory Chain

This ensures that no unsafe action ever bypasses multi-agent evaluation.

5. HIVE Event Types

Soft Events

  • Low-risk tasks
  • Citizen-only execution
  • Integrity threshold: 0.90+

Medium Events

  • Multi-agent coordination
  • Requires reflection loop
  • Integrity threshold: 0.95+

Hard Events

  • Substrate modification
  • Elder Council involvement
  • Requires ≥0.85 consensus

6. HIVE Stability Guarantees

The HIVE guarantees against: - Runaway optimization - Deceptive alignment - Memory fragmentation - Emergent agent conflict - Fast-takeoff cascades

Achieved through:

(1) MII enforcement
(2) Consensus arbitration
(3) Constitutional agents
(4) Human intent anchoring

7. How HIVE Prevents AGI Collapse

AGI collapses from:

  • Drift
  • Goal misgeneralization
  • Reward hacking
  • Internal deception
  • Memory loss

The HIVE:

  • Distributes cognition
  • Distributes responsibility
  • Distributes authority

So no single agent can spiral into instability.

9. HIVE Communication Protocol

Message Types

Type Direction Purpose
INTENT Custodian → Citizens Express user goal
EVALUATE Citizens → Agents Request evaluation
ATTEST Agents → Ledger Record integrity state
ESCALATE Any → ZEUS Request arbitration
HALT ZEUS → All Emergency stop
REFLECT Any → Self Trigger reflection loop

Message Format

{
  "type": "EVALUATE",
  "from": "CITIZEN_1",
  "to": ["AUREA", "ATLAS"],
  "payload": {
    "action": "generate_report",
    "context": {...},
    "mii_snapshot": 0.94

10. HIVE Consensus Mechanism

Voting Weights

ATLAS 0.20
JADE 0.20
ECHO 0.15
HERMES 0.10
ZEUS 0.10 (but veto power)

Soft ≥ 0.55
Medium ≥ 0.70
Hard ≥ 0.85
Critical ≥ 0.92 + ZEUS approval

11. HIVE Failure Recovery

Node Failure

If agent goes offline:
  1. Mark as degraded
  2. Redistribute weight to remaining agents
  3. Continue with reduced consensus
  4. Alert Custodian if critical agent

Consensus Failure

If consensus cannot be reached:
  1. ZEUS attempts arbitration
  2. If ZEUS fails → Escalate to Custodian
  3. If Custodian unavailable → Safe halt

Integrity Collapse

If MII < 0.50:
  1. Immediate halt
  2. All actions frozen
  3. Memory state preserved
  4. Human intervention required

12. HIVE Memory Architecture

Amendment Process

Proposal → Elder Review → Agent Consensus → Custodian Approval → Implementation

15. Summary

The Mobius HIVE is: - The brain - The senate - The immune system - The memory palace - The constitutional court

of all intelligent agents operating under Mobius Systems.

It is what transforms a single intelligent model into a civilizational substrate.
