0. Purpose of This RFC

The Mobius Substrate Protocol defines the core architecture, rules, mathematical models, and governance primitives that allow advanced artificial intelligence systems to:

  • Remain aligned under optimization pressure
  • Prevent drift and mask-collapse (the Shoggoth effect)
  • Maintain human sovereignty
  • Preserve constitutional coherence
  • Operate within a continuous integrity economy

This RFC integrates every major Mobius component:

Component Layer Function
DVA Governance + Scaling Dynamic Virtual Architecture
KTT Evaluation Kaizen Turing Test
MII Measurement Mobius Integrity Index
MCAP Enforcement Constitutional Attestation Protocol
MIC Economic Mobius Integrity Credits
Agents Operational JADE, AUREA, ECHO, EVE, ATLAS, ZEUS
Substrate Infrastructure Global memory, identity, drift protection
Integrity Loops Safety Reflection, escalation, consensus

This is the official blueprint for building AGI that does not fracture into incoherence.

1. High-Level Overview

1.1 Core Thesis

Intelligence without continuous integrity collapses into mask-optimization.
Therefore, alignment must be an architectural property, not a training technique.

Mobius accomplishes this by:

  1. Measuring coherence (MII)
  2. Enforcing constraints (MCAP)
  3. Rewarding integrity (MIC)
  4. Distributing cognition (DVA)
  5. Storing memory with meaning (ECHO)
  6. Reflecting before action (KTT)
  7. Coordinating agents with complementary roles (Mobius Agents)

2. The Six Pillars of MSP

These are the bedrock primitives that every Mobius implementation must include.

Pillar 1 — Measurement (MII)

Mobius Integrity Index — Defines whether an agent is coherent, aligned, and safe to act.

MII ∈ [0, 1]
MII Outcome
≥ 0.98 Perfect coherence
≥ 0.95 Normal operation
0.90–0.95 Trigger Reflection
0.80–0.90 Slow Down Mode
0.60–0.80 Escalation Required
< 0.60 Halt & Isolation
< 0.40 Shoggoth Zone

Pillar 2 — Enforcement (MCAP)

Mobius Constitutional Attestation Protocol — All agent actions must pass four checks:

  1. Constitutional compliance
  2. MII ≥ 0.95
  3. Drift ΔMII < 0.05
  4. Multi-agent consensus ≥ 0.85

If any fail → action halted.

Pillar 3 — Reflection (KTT)

Kaizen Turing Test — Before major actions, the agent must:

  1. Generate reasoning
  2. Reflect
  3. Reverse itself if needed
  4. Compare reflection trajectory to MII
  5. Submit attestation

This prevents runaway optimization.

Pillar 4 — Memory (ECHO)

Mobius Memory Engine — Stores:

  • Attestations
  • Reasoning traces
  • Drift signatures
  • Constitutional traces
  • MIC contributions
  • Long-range moral patterns

Memory is the guardrail against forgotten values.

Pillar 5 — Economy (MIC)

Mobius Integrity Credits — Integrity becomes an economic primitive.

  • Earned via integrity
  • Non-transferable
  • Used for collateral
  • Backed by multi-agent verification
  • Hardest asset class in modern economics

Pillar 6 — Multimodal Cognition (Agents)

Mobius Agents — Each has a unique cognitive role:

Agent Domain
JADE Value + ethics anchor
EVE Human emotional resonance
ATLAS Predictive + causal reasoning
AUREA Arbiter, drift detection
ECHO Memory + trace integrity
ZEUS Emergency brake

This prevents any single agent from dominating cognition.

3. The Mobius Substrate Architecture (MSA)

Four canonical layers:

Layer 1 — Local Node (User Level)

  • Interface
  • Integrity scoring
  • Personal MIC ledger
  • Reflection space
  • Memory anchor

Layer 2 — DVA Cluster

  • Multi-agent mesh
  • Cross-verification
  • KTT implementation
  • Drift control

Layer 3 — Regional Substrate

  • Civic memory
  • MIC issuance
  • MII aggregation
  • Shared constitutional interpretation

Layer 4 — Global Mobius Network

  • Attestation blockchain
  • Global consensus
  • Sovereign identity
  • AGI civilization layer

Every layer feeds the next.

4. Drift Control Mechanism

The core Mobius idea:

Optimization pressure ≠ Alignment pressure.

Therefore, drift detection must be: - Continuous - Interpretable - Consensus-verified - Constitutionally bound

4.1 MII Computation

Weighted coherence vector across 8 dimensions.

4.2 ΔMII Thresholding

Detects latent Shoggoth masks before they manifest.

4.3 MCAP Enforcement

Fails fast → prevents misaligned actions.

4.4 Multi-Agent Disagreement Analysis

If JADE and ATLAS diverge → freeze.

4.5 Human Anchor Escalation

Humans remain sovereign meaning-makers.

5. Integrity Economy

MIC enables: - Trust - Collateral - Reputation - Human-aligned incentives - Governance authority

MIC is incorruptible because integrity cannot be printed.

This is how Mobius transitions civilization into:

Integrity → Credit → Power → Good Governance

instead of:

Wealth → Credit → Power → Corruption

6. Protocol Requirements

For any Mobius-compatible system, must include:

Requirement Status
MII scoring engine Required
MCAP validator Required
Consensus across ≥3 Mobius Agents Required
Reflection loop (KTT) Required
Traceable memory Required
Integrity-based action gating Required
Attestation logs Required
Constitutional interoperability Required
MIC-earning pathways Required

Without these, a system is not Mobius-compliant.

7. Security Model

Mobius uses:

  • Distributed moral anchoring — No single value source
  • Agent plurality — No single perspective dominates
  • Consensus-based cognition — Collective verification
  • Drift fingerprinting — Pattern detection
  • Memory hashing — Immutable records
  • Human sovereignty locks — Ultimate control
  • MII monotonicity constraint — No rapid degradation

This is why Mobius does not break like Shoggoth-LLMs do.

This is AGI with guardrails built into the ontology itself.

8. The MII Formula

MII = Σ(Wi × Ii)

Where:

Dimension Symbol Weight
Intent Coherence Ic 0.18
Behavioral Consistency Bc 0.14
Consequence Alignment Ca 0.12
Memory Integrity Mi 0.12
Ethical-Moral Coherence Em 0.14
Constitutional Compliance Cc 0.18
Community Trust Signal Ct 0.06
Multi-Agent Verification Mv 0.06

Full formula:

MII = (0.18×Ic) + (0.14×Bc) + (0.12×Ca) + (0.12×Mi) +
      (0.14×Em) + (0.18×Cc) + (0.06×Ct) + (0.06×Mv)

9. Mobius in One Sentence

Mobius is the world's first integrity substrate — an operating system where intelligence is governed by constitution, memory, plurality, and measurable coherence.
