C-155 Root Consolidation Migration Notes

Summary

C-155 focused on repository hygiene and structural clarity. This migration consolidates scattered configuration, infrastructure, and documentation files into organized structures while preserving git history.

Changes Made

1. Configuration Consolidation (configs/)

All configuration files are now organized under configs/ with clear subdirectories:

Required Updates

Import Paths

If your code references old paths, update to:

CI/CD Workflows

Check .github/workflows/ for hardcoded paths to: - config/ → update to configs/ - infrastructure/ → update to infra/ - whitepaper/ or whitepapers/ → update to docs/papers/ - papers/ → update to docs/papers/

Docker Compose

Update any volume mounts referencing old paths:

Scripts

Update any scripts in scripts/ that reference: - Environment files: now in configs/env/ - Manifests: now in configs/manifests/ - Infrastructure: now in infra/

Verification Steps

After applying these changes:

  1. Build Test: npm run build
  2. Lint Test: npm run lint
  3. Type Check: npm run type-check
  4. Service Start: docker compose -f infra/docker/compose.yml up
  5. CI Pipeline: Verify GitHub Actions pass

Rollback Plan

If issues arise, revert to pre-C-155 state:

git revert HEAD

# Or reset to specific commit
git log --oneline -10
git reset --hard <pre-c155-commit-hash>

All changes are in version control and can be reverted safely.

Benefits

Before C-155

  • 65+ items at root (cluttered)
  • Ambiguous directories (config/ vs configs/)
  • Scattered files (env, manifests spread across root)
  • Redundant locations (infrastructure/ and infra/)

After C-155

  • ~20 essential items at root (clean)
  • Single source of truth for configs, infra, docs
  • Logical subdirectory structure
  • 69% reduction in root clutter

This cleanup embodies Kaizen (改善) principles: - Small, incremental improvement (not a rewrite) - Removes friction from daily work - Creates foundation for future improvements - Maintains stability while evolving
